Hereford & Worcester - About Us

A small group of like minded individuals working together to promote the benefits of working in the Herefordshire & Worcestershire areas.

We were one of the first groups to organise Designer Awareness Days (DADs) for local architects in January 2007 prior to the revised Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007.  These were so oversubscribed and gained such positive feedback, they were adapted and repeated throughout the Midlands, as well as another event held in the local area at the end of the year.

Have organised some very successful and well attended SHADs at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern over the years and most recently a Scaffolders event in February 2009.

The Group actively promote HSE's current priorities and thrive on trialling new ideas.  New members are always welcome - so please contact either Yvonne Mazzotta 01179 886012 yvonne.mazzotta@hse.gsi.gov.uk  or Andy Wheeler 01788-861703 andy.m.wheeler@carillionplc.com

AN INTRODUCTION TO ASBESTOS

Asbestos was once viewed as a miracle product and used massively in construction and refurbishment from the 1940’s through to the 1990’s. Even now it is still so embedded in the built environment that it can be encountered daily.

The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations is in place to protect us from exposure and we understand how important this subject is. We also appreciate that it is often confusing trying to work out what is legally required in respect of training and awareness.

For anyone in the construction industry who has only a passing knowledge of asbestos and would like to find out more, we will arrange a half day ‘Introduction to Asbestos’ course. This course will provide a good understanding of the subject and of the duties and responsibilities we all have.

Please drop me a line to express your interest to attend and we will let you know where and when in due course.
